Are You A Good Manager? Lets Find Out.

 Lets start here ↓

In 2020 over 60% of people in the United States FIRED their boss!

Let that sink in.

To take a quote from one of my favorite books, "There are no such things as bad teams, just bad leaders." - Jocko Willink & Leif Babin

WHAT MAKES A GREAT MANAGER?

Here are some boxes to check ✔

A good manager clearly defines:

1. A team members role, tasks, and responsibilities.

Clearly defining what someone's job is and exactly what's expected of them gives security and safety. They will know what they need to do and feel confident in that.

2. How that person's performance will be measured.

Key Performance Indicators
are metrics used to track progress. For example a cold caller's KPIs would be, time spent calling, dials made in a day, and conversion rates. This lets your people know what your looking at and how you track them on the day to day.

3. What's in it for the individual when they succeed.

Your team members need to know with tangible Action that they are doing well and you appreciate them doing a great job.

4. One on one weekly check-ins with their direct reports.

Checking in with your team members helps hold them accountable to weekly tasks, discovers obstacles in their way to task success and over the longer term you continue to lead them through accomplishing personal and business goals.

5. Quarterly goals for business performance as well as professional development.

It is YOUR responsibility to lead your team. A great manager leads people to be better than before. Development is a requirement for great leadership with both Business and Professional goals. Business goals are skills and learnings to improve their performance in their current role. The Professional Development is about skills and learnings for future roles and positions.

Ultimately the development is a mapped out path to growth personally and professionally.

So how did you do? Do you check any of these boxes?

If you have checked some or all of these boxes I've talked about you are on the right track so continue forward.

Learning to be a leader is HARD WORK! and not always fun but there is beauty in the journey.

Until next time, take care!
